Beltinge Gardeners' Society

What We Do

The Society holds meetings on the first Tuesday of every month except January.  Doors to the Memorial Hall open at 7.15pm and meetings start at 7.30pm, usually lasting 2 hours.  Meetings are always friendly and enjoyable and normally include an interesting guest speaker, raffle, complimentary refreshments and a sales table.

Twice a year we hold flower shows in the hall.   At these shows we include flowers, vegetable, baking, craft, art, flower arranging and photography classes as well.  These shows are purely for the amateur gardener (our members), so there is a relaxed atmosphere and an element of fun too. There are novice classes as well, so there is no need to worry if you are new to ‘showing’.  It is also a great opportunity to impress your friends by winning a rosette!   All entries are limited to members only.

Our energetic and enthusiastic committee also organise coach outings during the year.  Previous day trips have included;  RHS Wisley,  RHS Hyde Hall,  Nymans,  Chartwell, Kew Gardens, Cambridge Botanical Garden,  Capel Manor College Gardens,  Sissinghurst,  Hever Castle, to name but a few.

On a Saturday morning in May, the Society holds a GRAND PLANT SALE in the Memorial Hall.  The doors are thrown open to the general  public who are invited in to buy from a large selection of plants and seedlings, preserves, cakes and garden bric-a-brac, all grown, produced or supplied by our members, and all at very reasonable prices.  All proceeds go towards Society funds.
